Why it matters: Shoppers can skip locked cases and long lines while getting eggs or medicine in minutes, but surcharges still apply.
Delivery services remain popular among Americans despite extra fees, and Wing is betting drones will keep that momentum alive. The Alphabet-owned company announced Sunday it is expanding its Walmart-partnered drone delivery program to Houston starting Thursday, with Orlando, Tampa, and Charlotte following soon after.
Rapid Rollout Timeline
The expansion will bring drone delivery to 150 Walmart locations in the coming weeks. By 2027, Wing aims to operate from 270 stores across additional cities:
- Los Angeles
- Miami
- St. Louis
- Cincinnati
Dallas-Fort Worth became the first Wing-Walmart region in August 2023. Six Walmart Supercenters around Atlanta joined the program last month during the holiday shopping season.
How Fast Is Fast?
In Atlanta, Wing delivers produce, dairy, non-perishable groceries, household products, over-the-counter medicine, and children’s toys within five minutes of order fulfillment.
The company says its top 25 percent of customers now place orders three times a week through the Walmart app.
CEO Statement

“We’ve spent years building our technology to ensure that when you realize you’re out of eggs or need over-the-counter medicine, the solution is just a few taps away, seamlessly integrated into existing store operations,” said Adam Woodworth, Wing CEO, in Sunday’s release.
He added that the partnership with Walmart proves “delivering these critical, everyday items in minutes makes a significant difference for families.”
