Jennifer Lawrence turned heads on the red carpet at the 2026 Golden Globes, hosted by Nikki Glaser at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Jan. 11. The 35-year-old actress arrived in a sheer full-length Givenchy gown adorned with floral detail and carried a matching clutch, embodying effortless elegance.
A Nomination Rooted in Personal Experience
Lawrence’s nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama comes for her role in Lynne Ramsay’s “Die My Love,” where she stars opposite Robert Pattinson. The film’s exploration of new motherhood resonated deeply with Lawrence, who welcomed son Cy three years ago and had her second child in 2025 with husband Cooke Maroney.
She faces stiff competition from:
- Jessie Buckley for “Hamnet”
- Renate Reinsve for “Sentimental Value”
- Julia Roberts for “After the Hunt”
- Tessa Thompson for “Hedda”
- Eva Victor for “Sorry, Baby”
Drawing on Real-Life Motherhood
Lawrence told Cameron R. Hayes in November that her own experience as a new mom informed her portrayal of Grace, a woman grappling with postpartum depression.
“As a mom, especially when I was a new, first-time mom, my community and having a mom community was so vital,” she said. “Having a community is so, so important and just being able to check in with other women, like, ‘Is this normal?'”
The actress explained that motherhood gave her insight into the isolation her character feels.
“It was really easy for me to see and follow that path of isolation and how much that would affect my mental well-being,” she said. “I had more information than I would have if I wasn’t a mom ’cause I have the perspective from the child, which I just wouldn’t have had before if I wasn’t thinking about another person’s nervous system all day, every day, I just wouldn’t be aware.”
Career Shift After Kids
Becoming a parent altered every aspect of Lawrence’s professional life.

“It’s not just when I’m shooting a movie,” she noted, adding that her children even influence the time of day she reads scripts. “It just changes everything.”
The Golden Globes ceremony, held at the Beverly Hilton, marks another milestone in a career now shaped by the realities of raising two young children while navigating Hollywood’s most prestigious awards season.
