Eufy Omni E28 Vacuum Slammed Over Noise,Mopping Flops

At a Glance

  • The Eufy Robot Vacuum Omni E28 vacuums well and avoids objects, but its dock screams like a shop vac.
  • A snap-on wet-vac module lifts ketchup and milk from rugs, yet the robot’s own mopping barely touches winter salt.
  • Even at a discounted $700, Natalie A. Brooks says the racket and upkeep make it hard to recommend.
  • Why it matters: Shoppers who want quiet, truly autonomous cleaning will still be waiting for a better option.

The Eufy Robot Vacuum Omni E28 tries to stand out with a detachable wet-vac module that sucks spills out of carpet, Matter smart-home support and quick 30-minute cleaning runs. After weeks of testing, Natalie A. Brooks at News Of Fort Worth found the vacuum itself works fast, avoids shoes and books, and stays under conversational volume. The same cannot be said for the self-empty dock, whose motor fires twice per cycle at headache-inducing decibels and fills the room with a musty smell.

Vacuuming performance

On hardwood and low-pile carpet, the robot covered a 300 ft² living-dining-kitchen loop in roughly half an hour. Battery life is rated at 216 minutes in vacuum-only mode, enough for most single-story homes. Head-to-head against the Matic, the Omni E28 picked up slightly less rice and sugar, yet the gap was small and edge-cleaning was reliable. Small items such as erasers and paperclips still got eaten, a common flaw across brands.

Mopping disappoints

Natalie A. Brooks tested with plain water because Eufy ships no solution and warns against third-party cleaners. The robot left winter salt crust untouched and merely smeared ketchup, trailing some onto a rug. When entry rugs were moved, the map still avoided the old rug locations, showing limited adaptability to household changes.

The loud dock

Every bin-empty cycle triggers two suction bursts, the second louder than the first. The sound occurs even during mop-roller rinsing, making night-time scheduling unpleasant unless auto-empty is disabled. The 3-litre bags last about 75 days, while the mop roller is expected to survive two months before replacement.

Deep-clean wet-vac module

The dock hides a hose and transparent head that sprays clean water and extracts dirty water into a 1.8-litre tank. Key results:

  • Ketchup spilled on a rug disappeared completely.
  • Milk on carpet lifted with no residual odor.
  • Hose retains water after use, risking puddles and mold if not dried.
  • Module must share the dock’s power cord, forcing users to crawl behind furniture to unplug.

Smart home and app extras

Matter support lets the robot answer Siri, Google or Alexa commands to clean rooms or return to base. The Eufy Clean app renders maps in 3D by default; users can toggle to 2D. Cleaning modes include:

  • Quiet, Turbo, Max suction
  • One or two passes
  • Vacuum-only, mop-only or combined

Experimental “Smart Track Cleaning” follows a person, but lost the trail when Natalie A. Brooks stepped behind furniture. “Dirt Inspection” sends the robot back for a second look; in testing it merely repeated a quick pass.

Value verdict

Eufy lists the Omni E28 at $1,400; a coupon on the company site drops it to $700. Natalie A. Brooks concludes the vacuum performance, object avoidance and unique wet-vac attachment do not offset mediocre mopping, extreme dock noise and maintenance headaches. At $400** without the self-empty base it could be tempting; at current prices it is not worth the cost or the hassle.
