Hollywood Director Rob Reiner and Wife Found Dead in Brentwood Home After Apparent Stab Wounds

Sunday afternoon, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a Brentwood mansion where a man and a woman were found deceased around 3:30 p.m. The victims, approximately 78 and 68 years old, were identified as director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner after an apparent stab‑wound investigation.

Paramedics and firefighters arrived after a call for an ambulance death investigation, a term the LAPD uses when officers are dispatched to a death scene. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the two occupants, Reiner and his wife, lived in the home and that property records list the couple as owners.

Deputy Police Chief Alan Hamilton said detectives are not seeking a suspect or person of interest until the investigation is underway. He added that a search warrant is required because of standing issues at the residence, and that the LAPD will obtain the warrant soon. The death investigation will be handled by the Robbery Homicide Division, and the Los Angeles County Coroner will release the victims’ identities later.
