A deadly shooting in Lavon on Saturday night has led to a juvenile suspect identified as a middle‑school student and the closure of three Community ISD campuses.

On Saturday around 8:50 p.m., Lavon Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the 700 block of Wellington Drive in the Crestridge Meadows neighborhood. The reporting party said a man was shot after an altercation between two people. The victim suffered several gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead.
Suspect Identification and School Response
Community ISD sent a letter to parents on Sunday stating that the suspect has been identified as a student of Community Trails Middle School. The district said the suspect has not been on campus since November 11 and that police believe the shooting was a targeted act. As a precaution, the district will close three campuses to visitors:

- Dodson Elementary School
- NeSmith Elementary School

Each campus will have an increased security presence and will retain the preexisting armed CISD police officer.
