At about 4:15 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call in the 100 block of South Murdeaux Lane. They found Matthew Moore with a gunshot wound and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

On Monday, Moore’s family and friends gathered at Chapa’s Boxing Gym in Rockwall to remember him.
Coach Pete Chapa, who worked with Moore for about three years, said, “Matt as an athlete, he’s just a coach’s dream.” He added, “I just want people to know that Matt worked hard and he inspired everyone he was around. He inspired to people to work hard, and he inspired people by… I would say every other time he was in this gym, he brought his daughter with him. She was five years old. She was here with him. She was trailing him all the time,” Chapa said.
